June 2015 Show  Author Steve Soderquist

Steve Soderquist was quite a successful musician twenty-odd years ago and spent many years on the road, playing with numerous bands for years. He settled for a more 'normal life', but the writing bug kept biting at him. Starting a book called, 'Minds Eye' when he was seventeen, the concept stuck...and it never left him.

Quote, "Even though the writing muscle had certainly atrophied, I was getting that tickle like you get in the back of your throat when a cold is coming on. When I wrote the short novella 'One for the Road', I knew I had to keep going. There was so much there I wanted to push out and put on paper. I have always been a huge fan of so many authors; Everything from Stephen King to V.C. Andrews to Jules Verne, Anthony Burgess, Dean Koontz, John Grisham, J.R.R. Tolkien, James many. I have never stuck with one genre, and I honestly believe that enriched me as an author myself."

'One for the Road' motivated him to propel. When 'Farm House' was complete and those blessed two words were put down, 'THE END' he knew he found his calling...or at the very least, felt called back.

Now settled down as a full-time published author and freelance editor, Steve has authored four novels, one with co-writer Laura Ranger, 'Rogue', one novella and a children's short story. Catch him most of the time and you will find him at the keyboard hard at work on the ever-present next Title.

Rhys Ella, Author of Kato and the Fountain of Wrinkles.

"This could make you the most hated pooch in Callia Rugas, and fer what, a golden statue!"

For famous animal actor Kato Rhyan, being named "Cutest Pug Alive" by Pooch Magazine was cool (all right, really cool). But for him, acting isn't about fame, it's a part of him buried deep within his soul; and he's not about to let anything stand in his way of becoming the first animal to win an Oscar for Best Actor, even if it means taking on a role that requires a wrinkly dog's worst nightmare-Botox injections.

But before the injection process begins, it's discovered that the Fountain of Wrinkles-located in his beautiful hometown of Callia Rugas-has been contaminated by Botox, jeopardizing the lives of crinkly canines everywhere and setting off a chain of events that force him to bid farewell to his dream and set foot on an adventure of a lifetime in search of the antidote to restore the Fountain.

But as with any good Hollywood tale, the story that seems so apparent is not always the one that unfolds. The twists and turns that follow are sure to keep you guessing and laughing.

Author Nadia Khalil Bradley

Nadia Khalil Bradley began her journey in a tight-knit Palestinian-American community located in a suburb of Chicago. A devout Muslim, she followed the traditions upheld in the community and within the culture and learned English by the age of 5. Writing and was never a personal goal, however time shows that there was another direction chosen for Nadia; one that led her down several paths to writing three books so far, Little Wing, Origins of Truth and soon to be released Original Love.

Upon marriage, Nadia left Chicago in 1985 and moved to Los Angeles and attended California State University at Long Beach, where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and Marketing. Soon after graduating, she began a career as a financial planner for a reputable company before starting a family and giving birth to her first child in 1990. She followed this path until 1997, with two small children and a divorce on the horizon; things began to change drastically in her life. She re-entered the job market with a staffing company who initially began to help her find a job; they liked her so much, they hired her.

Like many people who mature and wander through life, Nadia started to question different elements about the meaning of life, and she began to address these questions to God. She wasn’t looking for immediate answers, but wrote them with hopes of clearing her mind.

These questions became persistent, and one day, she began receiving answers. At the time, she was unclear as to where these answers were coming. Then one day, as she found herself writing and saying things she had never had the wherewithal to imagine, it was made clear, that all the while she was writing, she was talking to God, and in turn she was receiving answers. Her mind filled with ideas and information that says it’s not possible for a Muslim woman to receive answers from whom she identifies as Christ. It took her some getting used to, but she finally opened her heart and the floodgates of love and wisdom found its way through her. Her heart filled with answers, that all IS possible. GOD is not a religion was one of the most important answers she learned.

Nadia’s life has taken many turns since this awakening and a deep connection has formed with the Truth. While some may have felt despair and helplessness faced with challenges that are often a part of life; Nadia found the Truth willfully and lovingly, set her free. She compiled some of her writings and released them independently May 2004 with Little Wing. While the distribution was localized in Southern California, the power of her writing was noticed universally. She notes the popularity comes because she does not write about any religion, but rather her influence comes from the origins of love, truth and purity – a universal bridge that so many are looking to find in themselves.

She taps into these influences with her latest release, Original Love.. As a self-proclaimed Organist, Nadia Khalil Bradley shares the meaning of love and truth through the writings that have helped her along her journey.

February 6, 2014 Seamus Kennedy

BIO I am an alumni of California Institute of the Arts, where I was a full-scholarship student in my senior year.
Curiously, I did not grow up as "the school artist."  When I was accepted to college, some friends had wondered if I’d stolen a portfolio.  You see, I’ve always been quiet about my work and aspirations.

OF DREAMS AND ANCESTORS  I am drawn to dreams and ancestors.  As a child, I ate at the dinner table with those who had crossed the ocean.  I appreciated their old world perspectives, and visualized their tales of survival, from bootlegging, to wandering the Canadian wilderness, to escaping prison and fighting for freedom.  At the time, I thought I would have the same kind of experiences, and dreamed about adventure.

EARLY PATRONS Several people bolstered my early passion for drawing and painting.  For example, my father would often come home with boxes of blank tablets, and sometimes brought in a giant end roll of newsprint for me to draw on.

INTENTION  I wish for my art to ignite a viewer’s imagination, and enjoy the views of the world I create.  Thank you for viewing this site.

HOW I WORK I'm attracted to color and symbolic images, and enjoy depicting how I feel about the world.  My work process is, like that of French cooking, with an array of ingredients: impressionism, expressionism, a dash of comic strips, a touch of fabric patterns, and a taste of advertising.

INFLUENCES I prefer the quirky, as well as the path less taken.  Artists I admire include Francisco Goya, Georgia O’Keeffe, Frida Kahlo, Philip Guston, and current New York artist David Salle.  I respect their courage to go their own way, which sometimes incurred salty criticism.

QUALITY  Each artpiece I make is with archival grade materials, using strict processes that result in strong, permanent work.  There’s a fine line between making the best, and destroying a piece of art.  I walk that line.

He regularly visits the Children at Doernbecher Children’s Hospital. These are kids that have serious diseases and are staying in the hospital for treatment. Luna is well loved and he has his own floor that he visits. The kids light up when they see Luna, it’s really spectacular to see.

He also visits The Raphael House of Portland, a women’s Domestic Violence shelter. The women and kid’s that are displaced from a violent or abusive situation are taken in by The Raphael House for safety and a new start. Luna visits them weekly and brings smiles to the women and children at a time they are really in need of smiles and loves. Luna is very good with the kid’s, he seems to know when they are shy or holding back and gives them as much space or hugs as the child is ready for.

We recently had our first visit at . This is a crisis line that takes calls when people are really going through a rough time. We went in during the Thanksgiving Holiday to provide the staff with some much needed stress relief. They fell in love with Luna so much that we are going to make it a monthly visit, our next one being the Christmas Holiday.
