Mat and Heather Clark

Mat and Heather met in 2013 and immediately found they shared an interest in real-estate and development. They started their real-estate investment firm "Innovative Investments" in 2014 after only 3 months of knowing one another and over the next three years purchased over 40 doors of real-estate. Why? To build equity and trust at the local banks so that they could build a downtown boutique hotel. The five acres that now hosts Huntington Square, Intersect311 Boutique Hotel and Suites, Urban Organics, and The Glass Factory was once a dilapidated eye soar in downtown where no one wanted to be and people told them they were crazy to start buying these properties. It was clear though - they were supposed to buy it and they were supposed to develop. At the time of their very first purchase, one of Heather's (she also writes grants) clients was the HCSI - the Hispanic Community Services INC. - and the HCSI Board was getting ready to list their property for sale. Heather had always loved the building and was sitting across the street from it at lunch one day, just sitting and eating her lunch in her car and staring at the building. Heather felt the Holy Spirit tug at her heart and whisper "I want you to buy this building." Heather said "why?" "what will I do with it?" God spoke - "do not worry about what you will do with it, just watch what I will do." Mat and Heather did buy that building and one by one over the next two years bought every parcel available and started building and opening businesses, either opening a new business or expanding a business every year from 2017 to 2023 when they reopened Huntington Square in March, adding a new indoor area and other amenities, where there is something for everyone and all people, kids, and furry friends are welcome. Mat and Heather also have three sons, Jayden, Josiah, and Jared (1999 - 2022) and four furry loves - Moses, Petey, Kramer, and OJ. They love what they do and cannot wait to see you downtown at Huntington Square - "Be There or Be Square!"

Special Guest: Kelly Damphousse

Kelly Damphousse [DAM-fiss] became Chancellor at Arkansas State University in July 2017.  His self-effacing humor and a lifetime spent relating to individuals regardless of the job led him to Jonesboro to become the third permanently appointed Chancellor, and tracing back to the university’s founding leader, V. C. Kays, from 1909 as the 13th chief executive of the institution.  He is fond of invoking V.C. Kays because they both share a deep commitment to students, faculty and staff of Arkansas State.  Quick to point out he is a servant leader for his institution, Damphousse’s personal style has had an immediate impact.  Raised in a small fishing village in northern Canada, Damphousse attended Lethbridge Community College where he earned an associate’s degree in law enforcement in 1982.  A failed professional hockey tryout foiled one of his two early life ambitions, a career as a goalie in the NHL.  His degree was the starting point for his other goal: becoming a Royal Canadian Mounted Police officer.  As he likes to say, three years in prison at the Alberta Correctional Service where he served as a correctional officer refocused his dream of becoming a Mountie.  Heading south, Damphousse enrolled at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas, where his life was changed forever.  Along with completing his bachelor’s in criminal justice, specializing in law enforcement and police science in 1987, he met Beth Smith, a College Station native who, in Kelly’s words, “neither wanted to marry a cop or a Canadian.”  A graduate of Texas A&M University for his master’s and doctorate, he taught at the University of Alabama at Birmingham before returning to his alma mater at Sam Houston.  He moved to University of Oklahoma in 1997 where his research and teaching led to administration positions culminating with his naming as dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, the largest college at OU.  A first-generation college graduate, a community college transfer, an international student, and a slightly older entering, if not “non-traditional” student, Damphousse has a first-hand understanding of the challenges faced by many of today’s university student.  He and Beth have two daughters, Kayleigh who is an academic administrator at the University of Florida and Kristen who is completing her master’s public health at Emory University.  The Damphousses are also the proud parents of Maple Leif, a standard poodle and lab mix, who serves as the First Dog of A-State.

Special Guest: Barry Hinson

Oklahoma State basketball coach Mike Boynton announced the addition of 38-year coaching veteran Barry Hinson as an analyst on the Cowboy coaching staff. A 1983 graduate of Oklahoma State, Hinson owns a 321-246 (.566) career record as the head coach at Oral Roberts (1997-99), Missouri State (1999-08) and Southern Illinois (2012-2019), and also spent four seasons on Bill Self’s staff at Kansas (2008-12). “We are excited to welcome coach Hinson and his wife, Angie, back to Stillwater,” Boynton said. “There are very few people whose passion for Oklahoma State basketball is as strong as Barry’s is. More importantly, his experience as a head coach will supply our program with another great asset. He will be able to provide great support to our entire staff, and most importantly to our athletes. His belief in what we can achieve in Stillwater aligns with my views of being able to become a consistent championship contender.” After 16 seasons and 155 league victories, Hinson was known as the Dean of the Missouri Valley Conference. Only Mr. Henry Iba (21 years, 190 wins), Eddie Hickey (20, 163) and Dana Altman (16, 178) coached more seasons or won more games as a head coach in the history of that league. In 18 total seasons as a head coach, Hinson had 14 winning seasons, including eight season with at least 19 wins, finished in the top three of his conference nine times and advanced to the NIT on four occasions. “I can’t tell you how thrilled I am to be back home at Oklahoma State,” Hinson said. “Stillwater is where it all started for me, and I’ve been ‘Loyal and True’ since the day I stepped foot onto this campus 40 years ago. I want to thank coach Boynton for welcoming me into his staff. I’ve admired the way he has taken the reins of this great program, and I look forward to helping him keep this momentum going in any way I can. I also want to thank Coach Holder, who is a great friend and a visionary in college athletics. It’s truly an exciting time to be a Cowboy!” Hinson won 116 games in seven seasons at Southern Illinois and was named the 2016 Missouri Valley Conference Coach of the Year. That season, Hinson led SIU to a 22-win campaign despite being picked to finish ninth in the league’s preseason poll. The 10-win improvement from the previous season was the eighth largest in the nation that year. He and the Salukis posted another 20-win season in 2018 that featured an 11-7 MVC record and a second place finish in the league. In all, Hinson posted a winning record in each of his last four seasons at SIU. In his time at SIU, every senior who played for Hinson earned his degree, and he set the program record for team GPA in 2017-18. Hinson originally joined KU’s staff as their director of external relations in 2008.
